GWAAC saves lives across Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, North Somerset and surrounding areas.
They operate 24/7, 365 days a year, as part of the regional 999 response service working closely with our NHS hospitals.
In 2018, they had 1,887 callouts - that’s around 5 a day, every day.
Despite this, they do not receive day-to-day funding from the government and rely solely on us, the people, to keep the service running. They are a rapid response, specialist critical care service, who can hit the road or be airbourne within 5 minutes of a call to their base.
It takes around £3 million each year for them to stay operational.
